Your kitchen is the heart of the home and this unfortunately mean that mess and clutter in this space is pretty obvious. If you struggle to keep the kitchen clean, you’re not alone and we understand that it can seem like a daunting task at time. Whether you’ve just undergone kitchen renovations in Perth and want to keep it looking pristine or you want to streamline your cleaning approach in general, we’re here to share our tips on making the process of cleaning your kitchen as easy as possible.
This is the best piece of advice we can offer when it comes to keeping the kitchen clean. It can take a bit of getting used to but cleaning up as you go makes things a whole lot easier. If there’s a spill on the bench, wipe it right away. If you have dirty dishes, put them straight in the dishwasher or hand wash them immediately. Doing the cleaning bit by bit means you’re not left with a huge mess at the end of the day.
We’ve all been in the situation where we’ve gone to put something in the dishwasher only to discover that it’s still full of clean dishes. As soon as the dishwasher has done its job, get into the routine of unloading it straight away so you can easily put dirty dishes straight back in. If you don’t unload immediately, the dirty dishes just stack up on the bench!
It’s amazing what a difference it can make having a clean sink. With that in mind, wash any dishes stacked on the sink at the end of the day and give it a quick wipe over once you’re finished. Doing it at the end of the day is the best idea as it means you wake up in the morning to a clean slate!
If you keep your bench top free of clutter, you’re halfway there when it comes to keeping your kitchen tidy. The bench can often become a dumping ground for household paperwork and appliances which should be packed away seem to end up permanently taking up room. Make an effort to clear this clutter and you’ll be surprised at the difference.
Make sure the bins in the your kitchen are big enough to accommodate your family and are easily accessible. A bin which is too small can often mean that items are left on the floor near the bin (not a good look) or there are numerous back up bin bags being filled up. If you find that your food scraps always end up on the bench, just remember to bring out a small container while you’re cooking – your scraps can go into it and then it can be tipped straight into the bin once you’re done.
